Entre polysémie et synonymie : l'évolution des emplois du nom terroir depuis le 16 e siècle

Abstract : A longitudinal study from the 16th century to the present time allows us to show that the polysemy of the French lexeme terroir was formed along a semantic continuum comprising four stages (from possession of the land to exploitation of the land, then to culture and the products of the earth and finally to the "human products" of the earth), but that these conceptual stages do not strictly coincide with historical periods
