Localisation et perception : l'observateur invisible omniprésent

Abstract : The article examines how the text La Jalousie is based on the staging of an invisible observer. This observer-narrator is the source of a “raw” perception reporting that makes the text a juxtaposition of pictures. These pictures are sometimes a reflection of the world in which the observer is present, sometimes the reflection of his inner world (pure constructions from his mind struggling with anxiety, memories, dreams and hallucinations). However, no indication in the text identifies the ideal nature of these perceptions. It is only the permanent observing activity which makes the successive sentences a coherent whole. The reader must be aware of changes of direction of the gaze of the observer because these changes actually are the only cues available to link sentences and parts together. The first part of the article describes the general mechanisms of this writing based on perception and therefore on the inclusion of the observer in the world or rather in the space that it describes. The second part further explores the repetition processes which, if one pays attention, provide additional clues for reconstructing some elements of a temporality within the apparent perpetual present of the hic et nunc perception.
